We are counting in the single digits until Christmas morning and there may be a few holiday gifts needing to be created for friends, family and (for us here) teachers. After sifting through a few boxes of embellishment pieces in the craft room, I pulled together a few items to create a keepsake ornament and card that can be created quickly.
Used the Christmas and Positive Thought stamp sets to complete the card. Added a bit of glossy accent to the cut out stamped heart for added sparkle and dimension. Enjoy your holidays and see you back here at Create It Wednesday soon!
Stopping in for my last guest post here! I’ve had so much fun using this Christmas Stamp set! I have a fun card for you to see today!
I stamped the red strips diagonally, for a mat to the kraft wood grain embossed piece. I added some MS snowflakes and then finished it off with the sentiment! It’s such an easy card to make! I think I will be making more of these!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my projects and I want to thank Dyane for having me! I’ve had a great time! Thanks for stopping in today! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas!
If you are sending out handmade cards this year, I’m guessing they are all already made, (unless you’re like me, and the photo-cards you ordered are still sitting in a pile on the dining room table, waiting to be addressed and mailed out… *insert guilty face here*) but here is a final Christmas card for your viewing pleasure:
I created the “noel” mat with my cameo silhouette, and stamped the Precious Remembrance ornament at the bottom. The ornament hangs on by a string (actually, a wavy snowdrift image) – this creates some visual interest going up the card. I didn’t want the wavy line interfering with my “n-o-e-l” letters, so I masked them off before stamping. After coloring parts of the ornaments in shades of brown and red, I gave the whole mat a bit of texture an impression plate.
A last little detail was to add glossy accents on the ornament stars. It’s such a fun way to add some extra wow without being too fussy.
Hello again, everyone! I’m here today with my final guest DT project! I just have to say how fun this has been. And I really can’t express how I’ve enjoyed playing with this Christmas Stamp Set!!! In an effort to stay true to the images in this sweet set…I’ve tried to stay away from other sets as much as possible…and in doing that…I’ve been challenged to really get creative with it as to not repeat myself or the other designers. I’ve totally LOVED that process of picking up the set and looking at it in a new way each week, and have been reminded of how much I LOVE the art of stamping! This week I took one last look at the sentiments to see what stood out to me…and it was this…
JOY!!! That script form can be found in one of the sentiments in the set, and I used the sticky portion of a little post-it note to mask off the other words in that sentiment before inking it (so that only the ‘joy’ would be stamped). (If you try this, don’t forget to start with a clean stamp, and peel off your mask before stamping!!!) Tape can also be used for masking off what you don’t want to stamp, but I needed to cut a couple curves in my mask, so the paper form was much easier to deal with. I framed my joyful heart up with a polaroid style die (all dies used on this card were from PTI) and added more layers of color, texture, and embellishments…
…including another sentiment from the set that centered around a heart full of joy! And I think that was all there was to it!!!
So glad you could visit today! I MUST say ‘thank you’ for the sweet comments you’ve left for me here,… from old friends, and a few new ones…and to Dyane and the team for allowing me to create along side them! The whole experience has certainly brought some extra JOY to my holidays…what a treat it has been!!!
Hello! Clare here today with a cute Christmas themed tag/magnet!
I started out by stamping the fun borders in the Christmas stamp set in some non-traditional Christmas colors, then stamped the merry&bright image on some kraft paper.
I decided to do something fun to make the ‘&’ part of the sentiment stand out. Basically, I rubbed some scrap kraft paper against my Versamark pad, embossed, and repeated those two steps a couple times until I had about four nice layers of embossing powder, and then I quickly impressed the stamp into the warm layers. Makes a nice little ‘waxy’ looking label! Snuck a little banner underneath it to give it a little more emphasis, and I was donsies!
Tied the tag off with ribbon, and then I stuck a little piece of magnetic tape to the tag so it could also be used as a decoration! You could opt out of the magnetic tape and just write a little message. 😉
Hey there! It’s Laurie here today, with my second to the last guest post. I am having so much fun with the Christmas Stamp set, so I had to give the chalkboard stamping thing a try. I keep seeing some pretty fun examples out there in blog land so I thought these tags would be a fun first attempt. I usually have a hard time with making a mess…this is why misting is so hard for me….so this chalk look, took just a little doing. Or at least 3 attempts. 🙂 Here is the final try….
I cut out 3 tags and sponged them with white ink and after I had that part right (enter 3 attempts), I stamped the sentiment last. I added a little white cardstock and fun striped washi tape on the bottom…yes that is my favorite stuff! And then added in some holly I cut out with my Cameo. Finishing the tags off, I used some white twine and some red bling for the berries. I think these will be so cut with my gifts under the tree! I have some kraft paper that will look great paired up with these tags.
Happy Sunday everyone! I am super excited to share today’s card with all of you, because I loooove how it turned out!^_^Isn’t it fun?heehee. It’s more on a collage one layer card. As you can tell, I used minimal materials here.^_^
I don’t know if you remember the card with these little candy canes made from a little border image in the Christmas Stamp Set…
…but I thought it would be fun to carry out the style of this card in some pretty packaging for it and a couple other treats to go with it! You’ve probably seen the pockets made from glassine bags…where you fold up the bottom portion of the bag and adhere or stitch the sides to create a small pocket on the front??? It’s nothing new, but I never tire of making these, and I just love the look of a card I’ve put my heart and soul into, peeking through that sheer paper…So much better than an envelope! I thought these could be especially nice at Christmas, when so many people have gift cards to give, and that thin little gift card slides so nicely into the little paper pocket…
For the gift card, I just used the smallest bag I have, and made a little topper from a small doily. I wrapped twine around it an adhered the little ‘Merry and Bright’ image that I embossed, ‘painted’, and embellished on top…
The embellished topper then just slides off to open the bag and remove the card. For the large bag/pocket that holds both the card and the gift card, I’ve used a bag that’s around 5.5″ x 7″, folded up the bottom portion and adhered the sides…
Next comes the pretty paper on the front flap, and a long candy cane stripe border from the stamp set at the top edge. Pretty trim and embellishments and a sweet sentiment from the set finish off the front. My card goes in the large back pocket and the gift card gets tucked in the small front pocket, along with a couple candy canes, of course! Don’t you think a family member or friend would love finding a surprise something like this on their desk at work, or maybe a car seat, or dresser? With the little treats tucked inside…I think even Martha would say…”It’s a good thing!” You can get much more elaborate with these, and stitching makes them extra sweet, but I can’t seem to find that kind of time at the holidays, and I know some of you don’t have access to a machine…so I kept this one simple. Hope you’ve enjoyed it, and are inspired to make your gift presentation on the outside just as pretty as the inside!!!
