Inspire Me Friday {Pretty Packaging for Your Works of Heart}

I don’t know if you remember the card with these little candy canes made from a little border image in the Christmas Stamp Set

…but I thought it would be fun to carry out the style of this card in some pretty packaging for it and a couple other  treats to go with it!  You’ve probably seen the pockets made from glassine bags…where you fold up the bottom portion of the bag and adhere or stitch the sides to create a small pocket on the front???  It’s nothing new, but I never tire of making these, and I just love the look of a card I’ve put my heart and soul into, peeking through that sheer paper…So much better than an envelope!  I thought these could be especially nice at Christmas, when so many people have gift cards to give, and that thin little gift card slides so nicely into the little paper pocket…

For the gift card, I just used the smallest bag I have, and made a little topper from a small doily.  I wrapped twine around it an adhered the little ‘Merry and Bright’ image that I embossed, ‘painted’, and embellished on top…

The embellished topper then just slides off to open the bag and remove the card.  For the large bag/pocket that holds both the card and the gift card, I’ve used a  bag that’s around 5.5″ x 7″, folded up the bottom portion and adhered the sides…

Next comes the pretty paper on the front flap, and a long candy cane stripe border from the stamp set at the top edge.  Pretty trim and embellishments and a sweet sentiment from the set  finish off the front.  My card goes in the large back pocket and the gift card gets tucked  in the small front pocket, along with a couple candy canes, of course!  Don’t you think a family member or friend would love finding a surprise something like this on their desk at work, or maybe a car seat, or dresser?  With the little treats tucked inside…I think even Martha would say…”It’s a good thing!”  You can get much more elaborate with these, and stitching makes them extra sweet, but I can’t seem to find that kind of time at the holidays, and I know some of you don’t have access to a machine…so I kept this one simple.  Hope you’ve enjoyed it, and are inspired to make your gift presentation on the outside just as pretty as the inside!!!
