Inspire Me Friday {Enjoy the Journey}

Hello, everyone, and welcome!  I found that I needed one more graduation card for a friend’s daughter, and thought the ‘enjoy the journey’ sentiment from the new Journey set would be great for my project.  I couldn’t wait to pair it up with a little hot air balloon image I have.  Dyane’s sentiments are always so versatile, and the sentiments in this set are no exception.  So let’s get to the card shall we?

I began by creating a bit of a whimsical, but subtle background for my ‘adventurer’ by heat-embossing the circle images from the Positive Thoughts set with a clear glitter embossing powder…

The sweet little hot air balloon is a Unity stamp that was heat-embossed in a Chestnut powder, and colored with watercolor pencils (and water).  To add some color to my background, I found ink colors similar to those in the balloon, to create a fun vertical pattern strip on the left side of the card, using the sentiment and one of the cute borders…(That was really easy to do, but I always do it on a separate narrow strip and adhere it after, just in case I mess up;)…

Then I used the sentiment again on it’s own in the lower right hand corner, and set it off with some pretty little sky blue jewels (from Prima)…

A little twine and a bow finished it all off.  Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s little crafting  journey.  Remember…as you collect the sets from the shop…you’ll begin to find you’ve got a sweet little greeting, as well as unique borders, for just about any project you have in mind.  Opportunities for creatively mixing and matching  just grow and grow with every set!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you have a great crafty day!

  1. Geri, this card is just lovely! Such a clever way to use the stamps! I agree with you about Precious Remembrance stamps, two of the things that drew me to them were the beautiful sentiments and the huge variety of borders! Even with just a few sets, I can mix and match them to my hearts content and they all work so wonderfully together!

  2. What a playful design Geri! This image goes perfectly with the sentiment and the arrows pointing up. And the sparkly circles are just too fun!!

  3. Love the subtle background you’ve created with the stamps Geri and especially the way you used the sentiment. Wonderful design!
