Scrapbooking Layout + Video Tutorial : Lovely by Missy Whidden!

Hey there, friends!  Missy here again, and I have a fun layout to share today using stamps from three different sets.  I used the New Day Stamp Set, the This Moment Stamp Set and the Date Stamp Set.  I used up some of my stash for this page, and I really love how it turned out.  I wanted to do some heat embossing on my background, so I pulled the three circles from the New Day Stamp Set and used gold embossing powder on them.  I created my background using a wide strip of Dear Lizzy Documentary patterned paper and layering it over some white cardstock.  I covered a lot of the paper with white acrylic paint first.  I did the embossing once I decided where my photo was going to go.  After I did the embossing, I came in with some paints and sprays to jazz up the background and create a watercolor effect.  The fun thing about embossing is that it resists any liquid, so the color went on the areas in between the circles.

Look at how gorgeous these circles turned out!  You could do this technique with any of the stamps and any color powder.  I decided to embellish my layout with bits and pieces from the Fancy Pants Happy Place collection and the Simple Stories Life in Color collection.  My title is a black foam glitter sticker from Pinkfresh Studio.  I love how everything looks together with the gold stamped circles.

Here you can see all the layers I created by tucking in bits and pieces under and around the photo.  I also added some foam under all of it to raise it up off the page.  This creates such great dimension.  in addition to the packaging technique, I also used my brush and the nozzle to splatter the paint around the page.

I used the This Moment Stamp Set here down at the bottom to create this fun cluster.  I first used a few stickers from Simple Stories and then stamped that label with the heart and the word “memories” under it.  I also used the Date Stamp Set here to add the date.  To finish this area off, I ran it through my sewing machine using metallic gold thread.

I did more stamping above the photo using the phrase “This Moment” from the This Moment Stamp Set.  Those small sentiments aren’t just for cards; I love using them on my layouts like this.  They make the perfect little details.  Again, I added stitching along the grid paper for extra texture and shine.

I hope this inspires you to pull out your stamps and create a fun background with them.  And don’t shy away from using the smaller stamps on your pages, either!  Those little details can sometimes make the biggest difference.  I have a process video for you if you’d like to check it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Our Cue Word is – Balloon.

Here’s the card that I came up with.:) I always enjoy images that can be use in different ways. They say, always think outside the box. Well, since I don’t have “balloon” stamp, I made my own using circles!Yay! These circle images are from our Positive Thoughts stamp set – which is use mostly as a background, and the A+ circle is from our School Days stamp set & I used 1″ circle punch so I can layer it over the other circles!

To make the “string” of the balloon, I stamped it using the borders from the School Days stamp set, as well as the “you are awesome” sentiment. And the images inside the circles are stamped using the Coffee Love stamp set & Positive Thoughts stamp set.

To add more interest, I stamped the arrow border on the side of the card using the Journey Stamp Set.

I added another sentiment below the card to complete and make this card perfect for a celebration! I used the letters from our Sketchy Alphabet stamp set.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I tried my best to make it clean & simple. But you know, it’s kinda’ hard to stop when you’re having so much fun stamping.:) lol

I hope you enjoyed my project!:)

Video Tutorial: All Smiles by Missy Whidden!

Hey there, friends!  Missy here, and I’m really excited to be joining the Design Team!  I’m sharing my first layout today, and I used the cute heart stamp from the Love Coupon Stamp Set.  I wanted to create lots of little colorful hearts for a background design.  I pulled out some of my Distress Inks and some textured white cardstock.  Sometimes I like going for a distressed and messy look, so using these inks and the textured cardstock is perfect.  I stamped the heart multiple times in various colors, and some of them I overlapped the colors.  I then fussy cut them all out.  I was inspired by my daughter’s shirt and all the fun colors.  I tried to match them all and create a colored heart explosion.:)

I love how all the hearts turned out.  I really love how you can see the texture from the cardstock.  I like when the stamped image isn’t perfect.  I layered all the hearts in groups of the same color to create a rainbow effect.  I can’t resist a rainbow color scheme, especially when it’s in my photo!

I did a little watercolor work on the background before I glued down the hearts.  I used mostly the same color inks as I used to stamp the hearts, and I also added in some other spray inks.  I didn’t want to cover up the hearts too much, so kept most of the embellishing light and below the hearts.  I layered in two big skinny die cut hearts behind the photo and added my title on the bottom of the hearts. I added in a cute Fancy Pants flair button, but the hearts are still visible.

Here you can see the work I did around the photo.  To the left, I added in matching strips of washi tape.  I just wanted splashes of color in a messy & artsy fashion, so I just layered them and tore them.  I used a few colors of thread to machine stitch for added texture and detail, and then added in a few Fancy Pants die cuts.  I found a cute Hip Kit Club puffy sticker and then added a few sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps.

I stitched through my title and created a little cluster of washi tape and die cuts down at the bottom.  I love the dimension of the hearts!  You could easily do this with any stamp and any color scheme.  I love fussy cutting because then you can move it around anywhere you want.

I hope this inspires you to create a fun background design with a single stamp.  And don’t be afraid to take a little extra time to do some fussy cutting.  You don’t have to just stamp on your background paper.  The possibilities are endless!  You can check out my process video if you’d like to see how I put this layout together if you’d like.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Meet Our New Designer – Missy Whidden!:)

Hello stampers! I’m very excited to announce that we have a new designer who will be joining us regularly!:) She guest designed with us before, sharing her fantastic layouts with video tutorials! Yay! Please welcome designer Missy Whidden!!!:)

Stay tune, she will be sharing more wonderful projects this month with her awesome techniques and fun layouts using our stamps. Woohoo!

Hey there!  I’m Missy Whidden from sunny Florida, USA.  I’ve been married to Marshall for 17 years, and we’ve been together since I was 18.  We have two beautiful little girls, Reese and Paige.  They are both autistic and nonverbal, so life around our house is never boring.  They keep things interesting and are usually the subjects of my scrapbooking.  I have been scrapbooking for over ten years now.  My mother-in-law got me started when I helped her make a scrapbook of my husband’s baby photos and I was instantly hooked.  My style has changed quite a bit from stickers, paper and deco scissors.  I  have gravitated toward mixed media, and I love using paints, watercolors, spray inks and gelatos on my projects.  I also love machine and hand stitching, incorporating die cuts from my Cameo and using bright and bold colors.  I guess you could call my style “organized chaos” since I love a messy and artsy look while still making sure every little detail is in place.

Hooray!! by: Rosemary Dennis!

Hi everyone!! Rosemary here with my last guest post for Precious Remembrance Shop.  I have really enjoyed my time as a guest designer and want to give Dyane a big thanks for having me!!  My card today was created for my little niece Kaia.  She will be turning one and I thought the Sketchy Alphabet stamp set was the perfect way to personalize her card.

I started out by stamping the word hooray using aqua, coral pink and light green inks.  The exclamation point was stamped in gray.  I then die cut the piece with a scalloped rectangle die.  The balloons were created by using the circle heart stamp from the Coffee Love stamp set.  I stamped my “balloons” using the same three inks.  I die cut matching green cardstock as a mat for the main panel and a larger mat from coral pink cardstock.  I then layered everything up on the front as you see.
For the inside I simply stamped my sentiment as you see it using the same inks, die cut it and then matted it using some aqua cardstock.  I love how it turned out and can’t wait to send it off to little Kaia!
Hope you have enjoyed my posts these last two months!

Hi Friend by Rosemary Dennis!

Hi everyone!!  Rosemary here with another card using the new Sketchy Alphabet stamp set.  I have really been enjoying being a guest designer!! My card today is a very simple one layer design with some collage stamping.
When I started the card I was thinking about breast cancer awareness and went with a pink and gray theme.  I started by stamping out the “Hi Friend!” sentiment using gray ink.  I didn’t use my MISTI, but just eyeballed the lettering as I wanted to get my letters as close together as possible.  Once I was done with that I added in the pink color using a few images from the PRS Positive Thoughts stamp set.  I actually used the same color ink for rings and the splatters, but before stamping the splatters I stamped off once on scrap paper so that the splatters would be lighter.   I added the sentiment “You inspire me” in black ink and then a few light pink hearts to finish things off.
I hope you enjoyed my card today!

Hello, Lovely by: Rosemary Dennis!

Hi everyone!!  Rosemary here for my second guest post using the fun Sketchy Alphabet stamp set.  This time I paired the set up with the super sweet PRS Blossom stamp set.
13d
The flower was stamped on some bright yellow and white patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye and then trimmed out.  I cut a piece of coordinating paper down to fit a card front and then cut that piece into two.  The sentiment was stamped on the lower half using the Sketchy Alphabet and the word lovely from the Blossom set.  I adhered the two pieces of patterned paper to my card base and then attached the flower.  Some Nuvo Glitter Drops in Blizzard White were added to the center of the flower and dropped in various spots around the flower.

AEI{heart}U! by: Rosemary Dennis

Hi everyone!!  Rosemary here for my first guest designer post on the Precious Remembrance Shop blog and I’m super excited to be here!!  Thanks so much to Dyane for asking me to be a guest designer!!  Have you seen the newly released Sketchy Alphabet stamp set??? It is super cute and very versatile!
For my card today I decided to use it in a way that is a little bit more elegant and created a card that would be perfect for an anniversary or a just because type of card.  I started by stamping all the letters in the alphabet on white cardstock using a light gray ink. I used my mini MISTI to do this to get a somewhat straight alignment of all the letters.  Once that was done I die cut the panel down with a rectangle die.  I then arranged the A, E, I, the heart from the Positive Thoughts set and the U on my MISTI and then stamped everything on vellum using VersaMark watermark ink.  Copper embossing powder was applied and heat set.  The strip was trimmed down and adhered to my main panel with rolled up glue dots.  I added some sequins that I had that are a pale copper color.  A piece of copper foil cardstock was die cut using the same rectangle die and then both pieces were adhered at angles to my light gray cardstock base.
Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you enjoyed my project!
