Totally Grown – Scrapbooking Layout // by: Missy Whidden + Video Tutorial!

Hello again, everyone!  Missy here with my final layout as Guest Designer.  For this layout, I decided to create my own patterned paper background using one of the stamps from the Totally Stamp Set.  I love the fun stacked brush stroke stamp, and I used it on white cardstock in a vertical pattern.  I used Archival Ink to stamp it down the page.  I did coat my cardstock with gesso first since I knew I wanted to add some watercolor over the stamping.  I rarely use smooth cardstock, so when I stamp on the textured cardstock, you can really see it through the ink.  I love that distressed look it gives!  Once I decided on my photo, I started in with the watercolors.  I did use some spray inks, but I also used some distress inks.  I dabbed them onto some plastic packaging, added a little spray of water and smushed it down.  My photo contains all the ink colors, so I thought it matched perfectly.

I just love these bright and bold colors!  Once the background was done and I added my photo, I thought everything was a tad bit busy and it sort of drowned out my photo.  When this happens, I like to soften up the busy parts by using vellum.  I just tore a strip and sewed it down over a good portion of the stamped design.  It’s still very visible, but it’s toned down enough that it allows the photo to shine.  Here up close you can really see the texture through the stamp.

I used another stamp from the same set for my title.  I stamped “totally” on some scrap paper and fussy cut it out.  This is a great thing to do if you’re unsure about stamping directly onto your background.  By cutting it out like this I can move it wherever I want without it being permanent.  I paired this with some older hot pink Thickers.  Since my daughter is wearing my glasses in the photo, I thought this was a good title since she does look so grown up.  I fussy cut a few circles from a Paige Evans Fancy Free paper, and on this one I added some tangled thread and then stitched through it.  Those fun glasses are from a sticker sheet I’ve had in my stash for a while now.  I stuck it to some vellum first and then cut it out.

I used the Date Stamp Set here to create the date under my journaling.  I love that it has all the months and days of the year as well as all the numbers.  Here I also did more machine stitching in bright blue, and I added another “fill in the blank” type stamp from the Totally Set.  I used a clear Amy Tangerine sticker that says “wicked smart” with it.

Here’s another look at the mixed media and stamping work.  I really do love how this turned out!  To the left of my photo, I added another fussy cut Fancy Free circle, some bright blue tangled thread and a flair button.  I used a few Me & My Big Ideas Project Life cards as layers behind the photo.

Here’s one more close-up of the stamping.  You can see how awesome vellum is and what it does for the layout.  It’s easy to stitch through, and it just softens everything up.

I have a process video if you’d like to see how this layout came together.  I hope you like it, and I hope you gained some inspiration from it!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and thank you so much to Dyane and company for having me!  I’ve had a blast creating with these incredible stamps!

Explore Summer Days – Scrapbooking Layout // by: Missy Whidden + Video Tutorial!

Hey there, friends!  Missy here again, and I’m sharing another layout as the Guest Designer this month.  I used stamps from the New Day and Date Stamp Sets for this Summer page.  I decided to not use any specific collection and just let the stamps guide my design.  I created four photo frames using the brush stroke stamp from the New Day Set.  I used some colored inks I have in my stash including pink, blue, yellow and a reddish pink color.  I stamped them on textured white cardstock and then fussy cut them out.  I layered them behind my photo and added foam under it to give it some dimension.  I also added some tissue paper in there.  I used the various sized circles from the New Day Set to create lots of  confetti-like dots on the layout, and I also did some embossing with clear powder to create some subtle circles.

I absolutely love how you can see the texture of the cardstock in the stamped image.  I like that it makes it look somewhat distressed and imperfect.  I fussy cut all the circles out and glued them in a diagonal fashion around the photo.  Later, I decided to add a third small cluster of the circles to the right of the title.  Here you can see the dimension from the photo cluster.  The shadows created are awesome!

Here’s a great close-up of the stamped frames.  I love how these turned out!  I machine stitched around the inner edges with some blue thread.  On the background, I used some of the same colored inks and some plastic packaging to create some watercolor splotches.  I love using lots of blue on Summer layouts!

Here’s another shot of the third cluster of circles.  I felt like that area of the page needed some more of those same shapes and colors.  I love how the title turned out.  Lots of different fonts and dimension.  I added another stamp from the New Day Set right above my journaling that says “Simplicity is Beauty,” and I thought that was perfect for my photo of my daughter looking for leaves.

Again, the texture from the cardstock just really makes these stamped images so detailed and interesting.  It was fun creating a shape using one stamp four times!  I added some tangled thread around the photo a few times in coordinating colors.  This adds some great texture to the layout.

Since this was an outside photo, I decided it needed some sun bursts and some clouds.  I lightly sprayed some yellow mist over a sunburst stencil at the top of the page and then used the same blue thread to stitch along the edges.  I hand cut some cute clouds from white cardstock and layered them in.

Finally, here’s a look at the title.  I mixed and matched a Bella Blvd chipboard piece with a Crate Paper piece and added in some Hip Kit Club exclusive blue alpha stickers. Down below that, I added my journaling.  I also added a small stamp for the date from the Date Stamp Set.

Here’s my process video if you’d like to see how I created this layout.  These stamps really made this layout really fun to put together!

Paige’s World – Scrapbooking Layout // Guest DT- Missy Whidden! + Video Tutorial!

Hi stampers! Thank you all so much for joining us & letting us share our project ideas using our Date stamp set.  We hope that you got inspired and enjoyed every projects. As we continue sharing more creative ways in using our stamps, we  are very excited to introduce a very special & very talented guest designer who will inspire us more with a total of 3 amazing projects – today & in the next couple weeks.

Please welcome Missy Whidden with her first layout + video tutorial! Yay!:)

Hey there!  I’m Missy Whidden from sunny Florida, USA.  I’ve been married to Marshall for 17 years, and we’ve been together since I was 18.  We have two beautiful little girls, Reese and Paige.  They are both autistic and nonverbal, so life around our house is never boring.  They keep things interesting and are usually the subjects of my scrapbooking.  I have been scrapbooking for over ten years now.  My mother-in-law got me started when I helped her make a scrapbook of my husband’s baby photos and I was instantly hooked.  My style has changed quite a bit from stickers, paper and deco scissors.  I  have gravitated toward mixed media, and I love using paints, watercolors, spray inks and gelatos on my projects.  I also love machine and hand stitching, incorporating die cuts from my Cameo and using bright and bold colors.  I guess you could call my style “organized chaos” since I love a messy and artsy look while still making sure every little detail is in place.  I’m so excited to be guest designing here this month!  Thank you so much for having me!

——————————————————————————-

I was immediately drawn to the scribble stamp from the Happy Art Stamp Set.  It reminds me of my youngest daughter, Paige.  She’s wild and crazy, and her personality is full of spunky rambunctiousness!  She has unruly wavy hair, and her life’s mission is to make huge messes.  I had to create a layout that fits her, so I created a photo strip of photos of her.  I wanted the look of messy scribbles coming out from behind the photos with lots of splotchy color.  I decided where the photos were going to go and then used black archival ink to stamp a bunch of the scribbles around that area.  I used plastic packaging and various spray inks to create some watercolor areas on the background.  I used some of the Amy Tangerine On a Whim collection for the rest of the design.

I absolutely love this stamp!  It’s so fun and messy, and it’s perfect for my style.  I incorporated a few other stamps on the layout as well.  I used this fun ink splatter from the Happy Art Stamp Set around the page a few times.  It’s the perfect splatter.  I added some more black ink splatters as well as some tangled thread peeking out from behind the photo.

PR_Paige's World1

I added more of the ink splatter stamp on this side of the layout.  I added some fun die cuts around the page as well as this cute flair button.  I love adding tangled thread to my pages, and here I used a few colors.

I wanted to create a sub title, so I stamped this sentiment from the Happy Art Stamp Set and then fussy cut it. I wanted to lay the words out differently than they were on the actual stamp, so cutting each word out worked out great.  Plus, it said exactly what I wanted it to about my sweet girl!  For my main title, I hand drew the letters of her name on some of the Amy Tan papers and cut them out.  I traced around them with black pen to make them pop a little more.

I used even more stamps down at the bottom.  I created the date using the Date Stamp Set, which I love!  I also used the fun brush stroke stamp from the New Day Stamp Set, and I used a Heidi Swapp ink pad in Mustard for that.  I also used a fun sentiment from the Totally Stamp Set.  I love how versatile these stamps are!  I added another die cut here at the bottom and then machine stitched through it.

Here’s my process video if you’d like to see how I put this layout together.  I had a blast making it, and I hope it inspires you in some way!

Stay tuned for two more of my projects coming your way soon!  Have a great day!

Stamped Backgrounds // Guest Designer Erica Thompson

Hey everyone I am back with another guest designer post using some fabulous Precious Remembrance Stamps! Today I will be using the Happy Art, Positive Thoughts and New Day Stamp Sets! I had so much fun with these stamps and created 3 fun cards to share with you today!
The first stamp set is the Happy Art stamp set

I started by spraying some of my Shimmerz paint onto my non stick mat and using my favorite stamp in the Happy Art stamp set and stamped it out on a white piece of cardstock that I will be using for my card front. Once I stamped it out in two different colors I added some splatters some black threads and then a few layers of pattern paper!

So fun and super quick to create some great cards!

I used this sticker from Bella Blvd. as my sentiment! Here is a look at the final card!
My next card I used the New Day stamp set and used the three circles to create a background! I used Versafine Black ink to stamp the images!

Next I added some black threads and then some fun pattern papers in my favorite colors!

I love these papers from Bella Blvd. Addison collection! The colors are so fun and look awesome with the black polka dot stamped background! Here is a look at the final card!

The last card uses the Positive Thoughts stamp set! I used the solid heart to create a pattern on the lower part of the card front!

I used more paper from the Addison collection from Bella Blvd and a piece of ephemera from the die cut pack!

I stamped out the word Hello from the Positive Thoughts stamp set on the ephemera piece and I think it looks adorable!

Here is a look at the final card!

Here are all three cards using the Precious Remembrance Stamps! I have had so much fun being guest designer! I hope have enjoyed my projects this month! Remember to stop by the Precious Remembrance shop to pick up these fabulous stamps and also their Facebook page! Have a great day!

Project Life by: Erica Thompson!

Hey PRS fans! Erica back with you today for another Guest Designer post! I am so excited to share my project with you and share how I used the stamp! I have recently started doing project life to document our daily life and this stamp is perfect! I wanted to do something a little different with one of the stamps to share with you all another fun way to use these stamps! I decided to create a cutfile for the month of March using the March stamp that comes in the Date Stamp Set! It really is very simple and can be done with just about any stamp!

I started by stamping the image out on a piece of white 4×6 cardstock in a nice black ink! Versafine is my favorite! I then took a photo of the image and uploaded it to my computer as a JPEG file. Next I opened up my silhouette studio and then opened up my JPEG file of the stamped image! All there is to do now is trace the image, move the JPEG image over and delete it and what is left is your cut file! You can now adjust the size of the image and send to your silhouette to cut! Super simple and quick and another way to get the most our of your stamps!
Here is a look at the image turned into a cutfile! I used the cutfile for my March title page and I love how it turned out! I also cut out some of the days of the week that I will use later in my album! I used my March Clique Kit that you can find HERE and it makes it easy to create journal cards that all go together! In my last guest designer post that you can find HERE I shared how I made my own journal cards for my December Daily album and I decided to do some of that technique for these pages!

I just love how the March looks stamped over and over again on a white piece of cardstock! I just added a heart from the embellishment pack that came in my kit and I have a cute 3×4 journal card!

I used the grid stamp and stamped it out on one of the pattern papers in the kit and also stamped out the Month Date Year inside the grid. I trimmed it down with my scissors and only used the Month box on one of my cards. I will save the Date and Year for another card in my album. Here is a look at my final two pages. I love how they came out and how much use I am getting out of this stamp set! You can pick it up HERE in the Precious Remembrance Stamp Shop! While you are there in the shop be sure to check out the other fabulous stamps and products in the shop!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I would love for you to check out my blog for my projects later this month using the stamp set and don’t forget to also follow the Precious Remembrance Stamp blog! Have a wonderful and creative day!

DIY Notebook by Stephanie Muzzulin!

Hi It’s Stephanie here with you today sharing a fun and quick project with you today.
Besides making my cards I LOVE to make notebooks!!!
This is such a great way to use up that scrapbooking paper that I have been hoarding all these years LOL I know I am not alone in this problem!!
I bought this punch for plans to add pages to my planner but it is so much fun making my own notebooks with it.  If you do not have a punch like this a regular three ring binder punch would work just as well and you can use binder rings to put it all together.
For the cover of my book I wanted to add a fun little saying/quote this is going to be a notebook for my daughter so I thought this sentiment from the DIY Stamp Set was perfect!!! After that I just laminated the front and back covers to make it a little more durable and than I just started punching the pages and using the rings from Me and My Big Ideas to put the pages together and than you are done!! So simple and these make such great gifts as well!!
For the inside of the notebook I just added some fun paper, diecuts and you can personalize it even more by adding some stamped images from the Date Stamp set!!!

Thanks for letting me share my little project with you!!

Journaling Cards / Pocket Pages by Erica Thompson!

Hello Everyone! I am so excited to be on of this month guest designers using the new Date Stamp! Now when I saw the stamp set for the first time I had so many ideas in my head I just could not wait to get stamping! Now I know we are past December but I will be honest her and say I am way behind on my 2016 December Documented album! I felt very inspired by this stamp set to get going on some of my pages! I decided to create some journal cards using the stamps in the set and I just love how they came out!

photo1
I used the December stamp and masked off my 3×4 journal card with some wide washi tape and stamped it over and over again at the top. I embellished my card with some pretty Bella Blvd holiday embellishments.

photo2
I did the same thing using the year 2016 on my 3×4 journal card! This was very quick and easy to do and I love how crisp and clean the cards look!

photo3photo4
I also used the On This Day stamp and used the same technique but instead masking off at a diagonal!

photo5
I love how this page looks in my 6×8 album! I also created a full 6×8 pocket page to go along side my 3×4 page and used the stamp set to add a few details!
photo7
I stamped the grid on some pattern paper to add some more color and pattern to my page and also stamped in the month, date and year! I added the On This Day stamp to a little Bella Blvd tab and tucked it on the top of my photo! Love little details like this!

photo6
Here is a look at my my completed two pocket pages side by side! I just love how they turned out and I can not wait to finish this album!
