Scrapbooking Layout + Video Tutorial: Too Cool by: Missy Whidden!

Hello again, friends!  Missy here, and I have a fun abstract layout to share today.  Do you have any stamps that you don’t think you’ll ever have a use for?  For me, it’s the coffee cup stamp from the Coffee Love Stamp Set.  I don’t drink coffee, so I probably would never use it on a project.  I decided to challenge myself to use it anyway!  I went artsy and abstract with it, and I love how it turned out.  I used watercolor paints again instead of ink pads.  I began by randomly stamping the coffee cup stamp over and over using different colors.  I overlapped them and just made a colorful background.  I used another sheet and stamped the coffee cup using black archival ink.  I used the watercolors and ink sprays to add lots of shading and colors.  Once everything was dry, I used several punches and punched lots of circles.  You would never know what these stamps were in the beginning, so it really doesn’t matter what stamps you use for something like this!

Here you can see how awesome these random circles turned out.  Look at the difference in stamping with an ink pad versus watercolor.  It’s fun to get that wet and artsy look with the paint!  You really can’t mess this up, either.  It’s very easy to do.  I added more watercolors and ink sprays to the background and also machine stitched with black thread through some of the circles.

By punching out the circles, I had instant embellishments.  And each one is unique since I used several stamps.  In addition to the Coffee Love Stamp Set, I also used a few stamps from the Blossom Stamp Set.  I added some gold Color Shine, too, which is really fun.  I used some older American Crafts alpha stickers for my title and added in some sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps.

Here on the right side, I created a little circle cluster.  That “LOVE” piece is a die cut from the Love Coupon Bits & Pieces pack.  They’re perfect for using as embellishments or titles.  I added in some pink tangled thread and a few small Shimelle stickers.

I used a few more die cuts here from the Journey Bits & Pieces pack.  These are great for adding the date and adding fun sentiments to your project.  I love the typewriter font!

This was a lot of fun to create.  Those circles were really easy to make with all the stamps.  I hope this inspires you to get abstract and random with your stamps and create something unique and colorful!  Be sure to check out my process video to see how I created this page.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Let It Snow! by: Amy Tsuruta

Hello, I’m back featuring my final project as a Guest Designer for the Precious Remembrance Shop!

Today I’m playing with: Oh Christmas, Fall Colors, Coffee Love.

Here’s a quick gift wrapping idea.  I’m a big fan of treat bags and the plain kraft ones are the best for stamping!  Team it up with a card and instant giftie!

I love to give + receive gift cards.  I’ll be the first one to say that I generally tuck them inside a card.  If you slip it inside stamped packaging, it takes it up a notch.  This bag didn’t take long at all to embellish.  The stamps are from the Oh Christmas stamp set.  The speckles are from the Fall Colors set and have been heat embossed in white.

My card combines the Oh Christmas + Coffee Love stamp. A pop of green puts it right into the festive spirit of things.

Thanks so much for stoppin’ by today!!!!  A big shout out to Precious Remembrance for having me as a guest designer these last couple of month!  Make sure you check out the Precious Remembrance Shop blog!

Scrapbooking Layout + Video Tutorial: Leaf Hunter by: Missy Whidden!

Hello again, friends!  Missy  here, and I am sharing a new layout using the cute mason jar stamp from the Oh So Fun Stamp Set and a small stamp from the Date Stamp Set.  I also used a few of the die cuts from the new Love Coupon Bits & Pieces pack.  I’ve had my eye on the mason jar stamp for a while, but I never really know how to incorporate it onto my layout.  So I decided to just dive right in and use it and make it work for me.  I was in the mood to use watercolors, so I pulled them out and applied it straight to the stamp using a brush.  I love how it came out.  The watercolor look creates a messy effect and doesn’t leave a perfectly crisp edge.  That’s what I love about it!  I used two photos of my daughter looking for leaves because the colors matched.  Leaves and mason jars really don’t have anything in common, but I just liked how it all came together.

Here you can see how beautiful the watercolor looks.  This was a lot of fun to do, and it’s a great way to use your stamps in a different way.  I like to stamp on scrap paper, fussy cut the image out and use it as an embellishment.  I was able to arrange all the jars where I wanted them instead of stamping directly on to the background paper.  Once I stamped the jars, I came back in with my brush and added some shading to make the jars look more realistic and dimensional.  I also added some splatters after gluing them down.  I also added a bit of machine stitching through them all with white thread.  Here you can also see the circle/heart die cuts I added in.  I also fussy cut a few butterflies from a Paige Evans Turn the Page paper to scatter around the page.

I used some Bella Blvd alpha stickers for my title, which I decided to keep small.  Another fun aspect of stamping, watercoloring and fussy cutting is the dimension.  When the shapes dry, they naturally curl up.  That allows for the image to rise up off the page like this.  I love that!

I added a few subtitles here and there from a few sticker sheets that went with my photos.  I really love how the rainbow effect turned out here.  You can easily mix and match colors as well by painting on a few colors at a time onto the stamp.  It would be easy to create an ombre effect with this stamp.

Here’s one more close-up of the stamp’s detail.  The watercolor picked up those details but still blurred them out a bit.  This would look completely different if you stamped with an ink pad.  So don’t be afraid to change things up and get a little messy with your paints!  You could get a different look with acrylics as well.

I hope this inspires you to try watercolors on your stamps.  It was a lot of fun, and I didn’t want to stop stamping those mason jars!  Be sure to check out my process video if you’d like to watch how I made this page.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The featured image is this wreath. It is so much fun and  you can easily color the berries around it, I colored it baby pink.

I want to match it with my background paper color, I went for a non-traditional Christmas colors this time.

Merry & Bright sentiment is raised up using dimensionals. And I rounded the corners too for a softer look.:)

Thank you so much for for stoppin’ bye. I hope you got inspired for today’s project.

Happy Mail / Fall Colors by: Amy Tsuruta

Hello, I’m back featuring a project using some goodies from the Precious Remembrance Shop!   Today I’m playing with Happy Mail + Fall Colors!

I heat embossed a sentiment from the Fall Colors set in gold on vellum:

Fall Leaves red, orange, yellow, gold beautiful colors

The pattern paper is by Pebbles.  I stamped on both the front and back of the envelope using the Happy Mail set:

Something that I tend to forget but I think is such a nice touch is an envelope liner.  It adds a fun design element for the recipient.

Thank you so much for stoppin’ by today!!!!

Scrapbooking Layout + Video Tutorial: Weekend by: Missy Whidden!

Hello again, friends!  Missy here, and I have a new layout to share today combining two stamp sets and some of the new stickers and die cuts available in the shop.  I always look through my stamps and see what inspires me at the moment.  For this page, I began with my photos.  They’re of my girls about to ride our 4-wheeler, so I wanted to create a messy and somewhat muddy layout to showcase them.  I knew the scribble stamp from the Happy Art Stamp Set would be perfect, so I chose that to use on my background.  I also used a sentiment from the New Day Stamp Set.  I incorporated some of the new Coffee Love Stickers and Journey Bits & Pieces on the page as well.  The pink in those helped me with my color scheme.  I didn’t use any patterned paper on this layout, and it was a lot of fun to just use stamps and embellishments along with watercolors and sprays.

I absolutely adore this scribble stamp.  It’s perfect for so many things, and it symbolizes mess and dirty for this page.  I used a thick smooth cardstock without any gesso.  I used some brown distress inks as well as some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine and some Shimmerz.  I thought adding some pink would add a feminine touch to the brown splotches.  My title is one of the stickers, and I simply adhered it to some cardstock and then cut it out so I could move it around.  I glued it to my photo and then machine stitched through it with gold thread.  A lot of the gold embellishments around the page are from my Crate Paper stash.

Here are a few of the fun stickers.  These are perfect for planners, but I like the challenge of making them work on a layout.  I used them as layers and smaller subtitles.  Here is where I used the New Day Stamp Set.  This quote was just right for these photos.

I really love how the pinks and browns look together.  I don’t normally go for browns, but the pictures suited it.  I used one of the camera die cuts here available in the Journey Bits & Pieces.  There are three different sizes of these cameras!  Again, the other embellishments are from various Crate Paper collections.

Here’s a closer look at the camera and the background stamping.  Stamping doesn’t always have to be front and center;  you can use them for subtle elements, too.  I did more machine stitching here to add more pops of shiny gold.

I hope this has inspired you in some way to create a fun layout using your stamps!  And be sure to check out the shop for all the new stickers and die cuts.  They’re very versatile and can be used in so many ways.  Also, be sure to check out my process video if you’d like to see how I created this page.

Thanks for stopping by!
