Create It Wednesday ~ Desktop Calendar

I’m wrapping up my Create It Wednesday posts using the new {Date Stamp Set} with some mixed media crafty goodness! I wanted to create a desktop monthly calendar for my craft room using this awesome newly released set. Here’s the finished product.
Mixed media postcard full2

I started by using some spray inks…lots of spray ink lol…and a mix of several graphic stamps from other PRS sets {Happy Art and Positive Thoughts}. I stamped them in archival ink and colored them in with some heavy body acrylic paint in similar colors.

Mixed media postcard

(Yes, I did have an art oopsie and had to recreate the background…more time to play right??) Next I marked the calendar grid on some acetate and stamped the days and dates with StazOn ink (made to use on non-porous materials). To mute the background, so the numbers would pop out, I cut a piece of vellum and ran it through my sticker machine and adhered it to the card. I repeated the sticker making with the acetate calendar I made…you don’t even see the adhesive!

I adhered a strip of plain white cardstock behind the days of the week then stuck it all on the “vellumed” background. I added a flag with the month and year and mounted my finished calendar with some removable adhesive to a media board for sturdiness.

I can’t wait to make one for every month of the year!! I hope you’ll give this a try. Thanks of joining me while I shared some ideas for using the new PRS {Date Stamp Set}.

Create It Wednesday ~ {Date Stamp Set}

It’s the first Create It Wednesday post for 2017 and I’m sharing a “Save the Date” card using the fab new {Date Stamp Set}. This set is perfect for everything calendar, planner, and journal related!

April 15

I wanted the date to stand out with lots of color against the black cardstock, so I stamped and popped it up on a tag. In this new set, the days of the weeks, months, and numbers are all individual stamps so you can really customize your project. It also plays nicely in the sandbox with other PRS stamp sets; here I also used the {Blossom Stamp Set}and the {Happy Art Stamp Set}. I think it’s pretty clear that something wonderful is happening April 15th  (it’s my mom’s birthday!)

I used gouache to paint the blossoms because of the opacity it provides, especially when painting onto dark cardstock. A ribbon and some rhinestones and we’re ready to party!

Create It Wednesday ~ {Happy Art and Oh Christmas} Thanks

Let’s wrap up this year with an expression of gratitude! Today, I’m using lots of stamp surgery (if you’ve seen my posts, you know I’m a fan) to create a subway art Christmas Thank You card. happy-stamping-oh-christmasfull

I’m always excited to give and receive thoughtful gifts, so what a way to say thanks with this card. When creating this look, I arrange my base set of stamps on a large stamp press/block, rotating them different directions, until I get a design I like. I ink up all the stamps at once and press really well into the center of my paper. Sidebar- I have to say that these stamps ink up and stamp fabulously every time! Then I go back and fill in the blank area, working from the center outward. All you do is change the orientation of the stamp from the previous time you used it.

I wanted to include traditional Christmas colors of red, green, and gold and the main sentiment from the {Happy Art Stamp Set} was just the right opportunity by using some embossing powder. The rest of the stamping was done with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. I added some shadows in those big, amazing, open sentiments from {Oh Christmas} and around the embossing using a W3 Copic marker (it’s a perfect match for the ink!). I added a strip of gold glitter tape and called it a night.

Thanks for joining me and I hope this gives you a way to mix your holiday and everyday stamps sets! Have a very Merry Christmas and see ya in the New Year!

Create It Wednesday ~ {New Day & Oh Christmas Tag Team}

Versatility is the name of the game for today’s Create It Wednesday card! I love when I can combine stamp sets to create great projects, and the result was exactly that when I used the {New Day} and {Oh Christmas} stamp sets. new-day-oh-christmas

I started by creating the focal point for my card, the sideways tag with an inlaid die cut snowflake. The brushstroke stamp from {New Day} was perfect to bring in different hues of blue ink (Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Weathered Wood Distress Inks). I even used the medium sized dot from the set to stamp the hole reinforcer on the tag! For the sentiment, I used some masking to stamp “let it snow” from {Oh Christmas} just once.

A few sparkly accents with some Wink of Stella and sequins on the tips of the snowflake and dotting the “i” in the sentiment and we have a wintery collabo 🙂 Thanks for stopping by to see my project and join us Friday when Judy continues our cool combinations of stamp sets for Christmas cards!

Create It Wednesday ~ {Let It Snow}

I’m back for my last Create It Wednesday post where I’m showcasing the awesome {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set. I couldn’t let the release pass without throwing in some snowflakes!

For the card: The burst of color on the card was created using Yupo paper, alcohol inks, blending solution, and a snowflake stencil. I die cut the snowflakes from silver and white cardstock and dotted the center of each one with a rhinestone, because a little sparkle definitely screams holiday to me. I then heat embossed the “let it snow, let it snow” sentiment from the stamp set in silver. If you look closely, you’ll see teeny tiny rhinestones as the dot for each “i”.

I even got  inspired by fellow DT member Lisa and created a tag…it was a totally happy accident 🙂

For the tag: I was testing coloring the sentiment using Zig Clean Color brush pens, but decided it was too aggressive for the card…so, I thought, “How about a tag like Lisa?” The sentiment stamp took the ink so well!! It’s proof these stamps are great quality.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my projects from this new release. Thanks for stopping by…now, go create!

Create It Wednesday ~ {Merry & Bright}

I hope you’ve been enjoying the awe-inspiring holiday creations from our wonderful design team and guest designer showcasing the {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set! For today’s Create It Wednesday project, I’m swooning over the bold sentiments in this fab stamp set.

To create this card, I used a poinsettia die to cut some watercolor paper and several shades of reds, oranges, and greens to paint the flower. I then misted the whole flower with mica spray…the sentiment does say “Bright” 🙂 I heat embossed the eye-catching sentiment with gold embossing powder, then the open space was calling for me to color it in…so I did, using the same watercolors 🙂 Some patterned paper and a gold embellie for the flower and this card is ready for the holidays!

I was trying to capture the bold shine you get with this sentiment. Imagine the color combos you can add! I’m loving it. Here’s everything you get in the {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set.

Create It Wednesday ~ {Oh Christmas}

Today, I’m bringing you a CAS (clean & simple) card using the new {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set. My card is really highlighting the heartwarming sentiment that comes with this stamp set. It has every design element you could possibly love—a heart, an arrow, script/cursive, varying font size, and presence!

I went with traditional holiday colors…and of course, some gold embossing! How to create this look:

  1. Create a window in a piece of red cardstock using a decorative frame. You could use a die or a cutting machine (I used a stock frame already loaded into my Brother Scan-n-Cut).
  2. Stamp and heat emboss the fabulous sentiment in gold embossing powder. Line up your open die cut over the sentiment and pop up with lots of foam adhesive.
  3. Heat emboss the pine boughs in gold embossing powder on green cardstock and fussy cut, leaving enough green to add some color to the card. Arrange and glue in place. Add some sequins for sparkle…the holidays always call for sparkle in my opinion 🙂

Tip: I stink at lining things up perfectly the first time. So when I cut windows for projects like this, I cut it on a much larger sheet of cardstock than I actually need, then line up my window. I mark where I need to trim my cardstock, and presto—a perfectly lined up window!

I hope you give this look a try for your holiday cards. The {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set gives you lots of creative options.

Thanks for stopping by…and go create!

Create It Wednesday ~ Oh Christmas Elegance

It’s my first Create It Wednesday using the newly released {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set! I’m super excited to bring you today’s post showcasing this stamp set because it’s only the most awesome time of the year for crafting and sharing!

I wanted something elegant and CAS (clean & simple), so I did a little…ok, lots of heat embossing on black cardstock 🙂 The gold and red really say Christmas to me. How to create this look:

  1. Using a good embossing ink (like Versamark), stamp the pine sprigs down the side of the card to create half of a Christmas tree. Heat emboss it in gold.
  2. Repeat the process using one of the stars on red cardstock and fussy cut it leaving a bit of red border. Add a foam dot to the back for dimension.
  3. Using some patience, mask off the word “Christmas” in the sentiment and heat emboss in red as above, then repeat with the rest of the sentiment in gold.

My brothers and I always tell each other Happy Christmas and Merry New Year, so they were my inspiration for the sentiment. If you notice, I really did a little word swapping with the sentiment stamp and I love it. Those pine sprigs are so detailed they stamped beautifully, even layered.

 Thanks for joining me today and go create!

Create It Wednesday ~ {You’re All That!}

Like, whoa! How much inspiration has been packed into the {Totally} Stamp Set new release projects?? Well I certainly couldn’t let this release pass without a little stamp surgery to mix it up and demonstrate how truly versatile the {Totally} stamp set is when crafting!

Totally flower

One of the joys of using clear stamps is that you can cut them apart….don’t have a heart attack on me just yet…because they stick back together (not permanently of course) super easily!

To create this look, mask off half of the brushstroke stamp and use it to create the stem for the flower. Next, only ink the one little image from the border stamp and use it as the leaves on the stem. Repeat the border stamp down the side of the paper to create…well, a border 🙂 Gather up a monochromatic set of inks for the flower and stamp using the star stamps until your heart’s content with the size and shape of your bloom. I also added some yellow and white embossed stars and a white embossed center, with some stickles for the dots. I also used some stickles on portions of the border. I created my sentiment by cutting apart the “that’s all!” to be “all that!” Some splatters and we’re done!

Can you believe every bit of this card was made with stamps from the {Totally} Stamp set??!!

Create It Wednesday ~ {you’re so special}

It’s time for another Create It Wednesday project, and I’m still showcasing the awesome new release of the the {Totally} stamp set. This set really let’s you get bold and graphic!

 Totally special

I began by stamping the border stamp repeatedly in 3 rows (always think odd numbers in design) using Versamark ink on black cardstock. Heat setting brightly colored embossing powders to the stamped borders really created a pop on this card! I embossed my sentiment on vellum, pairing the {Totally} stamp set with “you’re so special” from the {Blossom} stamp set. A few sequins and a notebook paper edge punch and this became a graphic CAS design with a rainbow of colors 🙂

I’m “totally” loving this stamp set; it plays so well with the other stamps from Precious Remembrance Shop and other stamps sets you have in your stash! Swing by and check out the shop here. I hope you have a super special day 🙂
