Scrapbooking Layout + Video Tutorial: Noooo! by Missy Whidden!

Hey there, friends!  Missy here, and I have a new layout to share today.  I decided to create a back-to-school layout since my sweet girls went back last week.  These photos are from a few years ago, and I finally scrapped them!  They weren’t too thrilled with me taking their photo…can you tell?  Haha!  I was inspired by that adorable school bus stamp from the School Days Stamp Set.  I made an embellishment from it and then worked my page around it.  I also used stamps from the Journey Stamp Set and Sketchy Alphabet Stamp Set.  I love creating backgrounds on white cardstock, so I did that  and then used the stamps as embellishments and part of my title.  For the background, I scraped some blue and white acrylic paint with a palette knife.  I wanted a bit of texture, so I scraped some modeling paste over a circle stencil.  Once that dried, I used some blue ink sprays over it.  I chose blue because that color contrasted nicely with the photos since they didn’t have a lot of blue in them.

I stamped the school bus on some white textured cardstock.  You can get different looks with textured vs. smooth cardstock.  I like both, and I wanted the bus to look a little bumpy and messy.  I used some watercolors to add color and then cut it out.  I added some foam under it as well as some tangled thread to create dimension.  Here you can see the cool texture from the paste.  I cut the big title on my Cameo using white cardstock.  I used the Watermelon font and stretched it across the page.  It says exactly what my kids were saying…haha!

I love how this area turned out.  I drew a few lines with a pencil and then used the Sketchy Alphabet Stamp Set to finish the title.  The strips to the left are from a Journey Stamp Set stamp.  I just cut into strips and glued them down to make them look typed.  You don’t always have to use stamps as they are.  Think outside the box and create your own look with them!  Don’t be afraid to stamp them on some scrap paper and cut them out.  I used a white piece of packaging from some stickers for that, and it turned out very smooth.  You can see the difference between how that looks and how the bus looks.  Two different kinds of paper gives you a different look.  I added a bit of washi tape down in this area and machine stitched over it.

Nooooo2

I decided to be a bit sarcastic up at the top with the “smile” stamp from the Journey Set.  I’ve learned to just take the photo regardless if my kids are smiling, and I’m glad I did on this day!  Smiles or not, it’s a memory I don’t want to forget.  I stamped it a few times to create a dark to light effect.

I used a few Me & My Big Ideas 3×4 cards as layers here as well as Simple Stories patterned paper.  I added one more stamp right on top of the photos here.  It’s from the School Days Stamp Set, and I stamped it on white packaging.  I cut it out and used some pink ink spray and a gelato to color it.

I hope this gives you some fun ideas to try with your stamps!  Remember to really study them and think of interesting ways you can use them.  I have a process video here if you’d like to see how I put this layout together.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Our Cue Word is – Balloon.

Here’s the card that I came up with.:) I always enjoy images that can be use in different ways. They say, always think outside the box. Well, since I don’t have “balloon” stamp, I made my own using circles!Yay! These circle images are from our Positive Thoughts stamp set – which is use mostly as a background, and the A+ circle is from our School Days stamp set & I used 1″ circle punch so I can layer it over the other circles!

To make the “string” of the balloon, I stamped it using the borders from the School Days stamp set, as well as the “you are awesome” sentiment. And the images inside the circles are stamped using the Coffee Love stamp set & Positive Thoughts stamp set.

To add more interest, I stamped the arrow border on the side of the card using the Journey Stamp Set.

I added another sentiment below the card to complete and make this card perfect for a celebration! I used the letters from our Sketchy Alphabet stamp set.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I tried my best to make it clean & simple. But you know, it’s kinda’ hard to stop when you’re having so much fun stamping.:) lol

I hope you enjoyed my project!:)

Design It Monday ~ {Thank You!}

Hello, Lisa here today with a project featuring our new Sketchy Alphabet stamp set. I’ve paired it up with some of our previously released sets to create a school themed thank you card. Something suitable for a teacher or even the bus driver!

I left all of the letters intact on the acetate sheet they came on. Using Washi Tape to hold it in place, I inked up just the letters and stamped them on an aqua panel with my Misti. Next came the star splatters from the Journey stamp set. My sentiment is from the Thanks set.

To make the thank you even more special, I whipped up a little goodie bag with some sweet treats! A few letters from the Sketchy Alphabet set along with the school bus from the School Days set were added to die cut pieces. I dressed them up with patterned paper, a die cut doily and ribbon. The windshield on the bus is coated with glossy accents and the headlights are rhinestones! Just some added fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We have tons of inspiration headed your way using the new Sketchy Alphabet set. Stay tuned…

Design it Monday ~ {Revisiting old friends!}

Hi there! We have something fun planned for the next two weeks. The design team will be revisiting previously released stamp sets and pairing them with Christmas sets! I’m sharing the Journey Stamp Set with you today.

16-1203-001-copy

The camera in this set is perfect for paper piecing! The ‘lens’ of the camera was stamped again then punched out and added with foam tape. A coat of Wink of Stella was added to the outer circle. Pine branches from the Oh Christmas Stamp Set were stamped on coordinating patterned paper. The star splatters from the Journey Stamp Set where stamped over the pine with Versa Mark ink then heat embossed with white embossing powder. The sentiment comes from the Sketchy Christmas Stamp Set.

While I had the patterned paper and stamps out, I decided to make another card!

16-1204-001-copy-2

I layered several die cut pieces together onto a white card base. The card was dry embossed with a pine branch embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment (Journey Stamp Set) with Versa Mark ink then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed out the square then added it to the card. A few pine branches (Oh Christmas Stamp Set) were stamped and fussy cut, then tucked in among the layers.

I hope you enjoyed these! It’s so easy to mix and match all of the PRS sets. Stop by tomorrow for a project by design team member Melissa!

Design It Monday ~ {Let it snow!}

Hello, Lisa here today! I’ve had so much fun creating with the new Oh Christmas Stamp Set. As I mentioned in my last Design It Monday post, I will be sharing cards and matching tags for all of my posts! First up, the card.

project_20160911_0019-copy

I pulled colors from the patterned paper (Crate Paper) for my focal panel. The stars were stamped in three colors. The lighter pink came from stamping the bright pink without re-inking. Coordinating twine and a jingle bell were the only accents needed!

project_20160911_0017-copy

For the matching tag, I used a die cut star. The top and bottom were masked off to stamp the stars. I added the star splatters from the Journey Stamp Set and a sentiment from the Sketchy Christmas Stamp Set that’s popped up with a thin strip of foam tape. Once again there are accents of coordinating twine and a jingle bell.

I like my traditional reds, greens and golds for Christmas. But once in a while it’s nice to mix things up a bit. Oh, and by the way…the sentiment ‘let it snow’. Nope, NOT ready for that yet!!

Design It Monday ~ {You’re all that…and more!}

Hi friends, I’m back with another Design It Monday post using the new Totally stamp set. I have a bright and playful card to share today!

16 0720 0016

I started with a die cut tag then added the stamped images. I used the selective inking method on some of the sentiments from the set to mix things up a bit! The line under the word all is stamped a little crooked…oops! I guess that just adds to the hand made charm, looks hand drawn!

16 0720 0015

I used one of the underscores from the Sweet Pea stamp set to emphasis the word that. Several stars were added in three ink colors. The star splatters are from the Journey stamp set. I used one of the little rectangle boxes from the This Moment stamp set to add a hand written message. Some fun patterned paper and twine finished things off for me.

I think this saying applies to all of the PRS stamp sets. They mix and match so easily. Yep, “They’re all that and a bag of chips”!! How’s that for a throwback saying!! Thanks for stopping by.

Design It Monday ~ {Best Day Ever!}

Hi there! I’m back with the final post from the PRS DT using the Sweet Pea Stamp Set. I appreciate all of your kind comments and enthusiasm over my first stamp set. The team has done an amazing job, aren’t they just the best!! When Dyane and I put our heads together on this venture it was indeed one of the best days ever! So here we go with more sweet peas!

16 0228 0003

First up , I die cut two panels from patterned paper and white cardstock. The film strip from the Journey Stamp Set works beautifully with the sweet pea flowers. I simply masked the edges of the openings with post it notes then stamped the blooms. A light pencil line came in handy when stamping my repeated sentiment. I filled in between with the little heart trio from the Sweet Pea Stamp Set. After mounting this panel to the card base I added a few sequins and that was it. Super easy!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit. We’ll be back soon with a new release!

{Inspire Me Friday} Spooky Journey

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to my next installment of  {Inspire Me Friday} using the “School Days” set!

With Halloween quickly approaching, I decided to stretch my stamp set and make a Halloween card.  I stamped the bus on a Halloween-themed patterned paper with spiders on it, being sure to let the big spider show through the bus window!  I added some gray shading in the windows using a Copic marker. Unfortunately the word “School Bus” didn’t come out clearly when stamped on the slightly textured paper, so I drew grid lines over it to make the bus look a little scary.  (Sometimes a stamper has to improvise, right?)

The sky and the roads were also made with Halloween-themed patterned paper.  I stamped the sentiment from the “Journey” stamp set as the finishing touch.

I can just imagine little ghouls and goblins going to school on this bus!  I mean, they have to go to school, too, right?

I fussy cut the bus and popped it up with foam tape for some dimension; I also added Glossy Accents to the bus lights for some shine.

I hope you enjoyed my card…thank you so much for stopping by today!
