Project Thursday – Totally Messy Mixed Media Art Journal

Hello Precious Remembrance Shop friends… Helen is here. I am super excited to share my very first project with you all today!

prs-jan18-totally-mixed-media-art-journal-helen-gullett

I created a mixed media art journal using the Totally Stamp Set and Happy Art Stamp Set. This is also my first art journal page of this year with a new mixed media book.

PRS-Totally-ArtJournal-01

First, I added the neon acrylic paints (pink, yellow, green and purple) on the page with rubber brayer. Then I grab the toiler paper roll, dibbed it into acrylic paint and stamped couple circles on the page. Last, I added some splatters on the page. Acrylic paint dries quickly.

Once the page is dry well, I started to stamp the sentiments from Totally Stamp Set and Happy Art Stamp Set, and I stamped the brush strokes images from Totally Stamp Set on the page with Black Archival Ink Pad. I added some shadow on the bold sentiment by stamping it again with Memento Rose Bud. Archival ink stays wet for a while, so be careful not smudge the stamped images.

PRS-Totally-ArtJournal-02

Using make up sponge, I added some white acrylic paint along the edges of the page. And then using Faber Caste Big Brush Stamper Pen, I stamped the other brush stroke image from Totally Stamp Set on the top left corner and bottom right corner. This brush pen dries permanent and works well on clear photopolymer stamps like Precious Remembrance stamps.

PRS-Totally-ArtJournal-03

Remember that I told you that archival inks dries slowly? The quote on this page is still wet, so I sprinkled some of the clear glitter embossing powder on it and heat set it with my craft heater. Result is that now the quote is sparkly and shiny. I also I stamped some stars from the Totally Stamp Set with White archival ink, sprinkled with the clear glitter embossing powder, and heat set it.

Last step is that I randomly sprayed some of the irRessistible Neon Yellow spray. That finished my art journal 🙂

I hope you enjoy this post and are inspired to create today! Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a fabulous day.

Tuesday Ideas {You’re my Sunshine}

Hello and welcome! It’s Kelly here and  I am so excited to be sharing my first Tuesday Ideas with you! As a child of the 80’s…I’m “totally” in love with the Totally  stamp set! I love how versatile it is, especially when paired with another stamp set like I have used on my card today. I chose to use the darling Thanks stamp set.

I thought I would create something modern using the bold, graphic prints in the pattern papers I chose to use. I really like the juxtaposition that the script of the “totally” sentiment pairs with the papers. All of the sentiments that I used on today’s card are embossed in gold. I also chose a few burnished gold sequins to bring in an added detail of dimension.

I hope I’ve inspired you to pull out some of your pattern papers and pair them with your favorite PRS stamps. I love that you can completely change the feel of a stamp set by the colors, patterns and details that you add. Thanks for joining me today!

Inspire Me Friday – {totally love you}

Hi friends!!  So excited to be back on the PRS blog sharing a project I made using the super fun Totally stamp set!  I also used the Love Coupon stamp set and some pieces from the Love Coupon Bits  &  Pieces collection.

totally 2

I recently purchased a pad of patterned paper from the Prima Zella Teal collection.  I saw another crafter using items from this collection and I just fell in love with it.   As I thought about what I would make for my project I thought about this pad and decided to use some for my card.  I wanted a card that could be given to a man or a woman so I pulled out some paper from the collection that would work for both and die cut it with a stitched rectangle die.  Some additional paper that has a kraft look to it was die cut with another rectangle die.   Pulling colors from the collection I used some VersaMagic inks in Oasis Green to stamp the border and Wheat to stamp the large word totally.   The sentiment love you is from the Love Coupon set and actually says I Love you, but I masked off the I before inking up the sentiment and stamping it in VersaFine Onyx Black.  The little hearts from the Love Coupon Bits & Pieces collection were trimmed out (they were originally circles) and popped them up with foam dimensionals.  Before layering everything up on my card base I wrapped some black twine around the patterned paper piece and then tied it with a simple knot.    I hope I have given you a good idea for a card to make for a man or woman!!

Create It Wednesday~A Graphic Hello

Greta here and I’m excited to share my first Create It Wednesday project with you.  I chose a wintry color combo of teal and gray for a one layer note card.

The Totally stamp set has some fun graphic images & I used two of them.  Each image was stamped at an angle across the top of the card front.  It was really easy to line up the images and could be done in a variety of color combos.

I added a bit of sparkle to the triangles with a glitter gel pen.  Love how the sketchy word from the This Moment stamp set goes with the graphic images.  Think this works for a guy or a gal, so that’s always a plus.

Hope I’ve given you some inspiration to get stamping!

Design It Monday ~ {Total Happiness!}

Hello and Happy New Year! Lisa here today with my first 2018 installment of Design It Monday. Today’s card is all about the stamping!

18 0107 000 copy

I drew a couple of light pencil lines on a 4″ x 3 1/2″ rustic ivory panel to help line up the fun graphic images from the Totally Stamp Set. Next came the sentiment using a combination of images. I did some selective inking on the word ‘totally’ and ‘me/you’ (Totally) then added the word ‘happiness’ from the Blossom Stamp Set. After die cutting a pair of file tabs, I added two more words from the Totally Stamp Set.

18 0107 001 copy

The design was modern and fun, but still a little too plain. So, I added a trio of flowers from the Blossom Stamp Set using a light green ink. I wanted the look to be subtle but add interest. To connect the rosy pink color throughout the card, I added the splatters (Positive Thoughts) using second generation stamping.

Just a little something funky and fun to brighten your day!

Totally Grown – Scrapbooking Layout // by: Missy Whidden + Video Tutorial!

Hello again, everyone!  Missy here with my final layout as Guest Designer.  For this layout, I decided to create my own patterned paper background using one of the stamps from the Totally Stamp Set.  I love the fun stacked brush stroke stamp, and I used it on white cardstock in a vertical pattern.  I used Archival Ink to stamp it down the page.  I did coat my cardstock with gesso first since I knew I wanted to add some watercolor over the stamping.  I rarely use smooth cardstock, so when I stamp on the textured cardstock, you can really see it through the ink.  I love that distressed look it gives!  Once I decided on my photo, I started in with the watercolors.  I did use some spray inks, but I also used some distress inks.  I dabbed them onto some plastic packaging, added a little spray of water and smushed it down.  My photo contains all the ink colors, so I thought it matched perfectly.

I just love these bright and bold colors!  Once the background was done and I added my photo, I thought everything was a tad bit busy and it sort of drowned out my photo.  When this happens, I like to soften up the busy parts by using vellum.  I just tore a strip and sewed it down over a good portion of the stamped design.  It’s still very visible, but it’s toned down enough that it allows the photo to shine.  Here up close you can really see the texture through the stamp.

I used another stamp from the same set for my title.  I stamped “totally” on some scrap paper and fussy cut it out.  This is a great thing to do if you’re unsure about stamping directly onto your background.  By cutting it out like this I can move it wherever I want without it being permanent.  I paired this with some older hot pink Thickers.  Since my daughter is wearing my glasses in the photo, I thought this was a good title since she does look so grown up.  I fussy cut a few circles from a Paige Evans Fancy Free paper, and on this one I added some tangled thread and then stitched through it.  Those fun glasses are from a sticker sheet I’ve had in my stash for a while now.  I stuck it to some vellum first and then cut it out.

I used the Date Stamp Set here to create the date under my journaling.  I love that it has all the months and days of the year as well as all the numbers.  Here I also did more machine stitching in bright blue, and I added another “fill in the blank” type stamp from the Totally Set.  I used a clear Amy Tangerine sticker that says “wicked smart” with it.

Here’s another look at the mixed media and stamping work.  I really do love how this turned out!  To the left of my photo, I added another fussy cut Fancy Free circle, some bright blue tangled thread and a flair button.  I used a few Me & My Big Ideas Project Life cards as layers behind the photo.

Here’s one more close-up of the stamping.  You can see how awesome vellum is and what it does for the layout.  It’s easy to stitch through, and it just softens everything up.

 I have a process video if you’d like to see how this layout came together.  I hope you like it, and I hope you gained some inspiration from it!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and thank you so much to Dyane and company for having me!  I’ve had a blast creating with these incredible stamps!

Paige’s World – Scrapbooking Layout // Guest DT- Missy Whidden! + Video Tutorial!

Hi stampers! Thank you all so much for joining us & letting us share our project ideas using our Date stamp set.  We hope that you got inspired and enjoyed every projects. As we continue sharing more creative ways in using our stamps, we  are very excited to introduce a very special & very talented guest designer who will inspire us more with a total of 3 amazing projects – today & in the next couple weeks.

Please welcome Missy Whidden with her first layout + video tutorial! Yay!:)

Hey there!  I’m Missy Whidden from sunny Florida, USA.  I’ve been married to Marshall for 17 years, and we’ve been together since I was 18.  We have two beautiful little girls, Reese and Paige.  They are both autistic and nonverbal, so life around our house is never boring.  They keep things interesting and are usually the subjects of my scrapbooking.  I have been scrapbooking for over ten years now.  My mother-in-law got me started when I helped her make a scrapbook of my husband’s baby photos and I was instantly hooked.  My style has changed quite a bit from stickers, paper and deco scissors.  I  have gravitated toward mixed media, and I love using paints, watercolors, spray inks and gelatos on my projects.  I also love machine and hand stitching, incorporating die cuts from my Cameo and using bright and bold colors.  I guess you could call my style “organized chaos” since I love a messy and artsy look while still making sure every little detail is in place.  I’m so excited to be guest designing here this month!  Thank you so much for having me!

——————————————————————————-

I was immediately drawn to the scribble stamp from the Happy Art Stamp Set.  It reminds me of my youngest daughter, Paige.  She’s wild and crazy, and her personality is full of spunky rambunctiousness!  She has unruly wavy hair, and her life’s mission is to make huge messes.  I had to create a layout that fits her, so I created a photo strip of photos of her.  I wanted the look of messy scribbles coming out from behind the photos with lots of splotchy color.  I decided where the photos were going to go and then used black archival ink to stamp a bunch of the scribbles around that area.  I used plastic packaging and various spray inks to create some watercolor areas on the background.  I used some of the Amy Tangerine On a Whim collection for the rest of the design.

I absolutely love this stamp!  It’s so fun and messy, and it’s perfect for my style.  I incorporated a few other stamps on the layout as well.  I used this fun ink splatter from the Happy Art Stamp Set around the page a few times.  It’s the perfect splatter.  I added some more black ink splatters as well as some tangled thread peeking out from behind the photo.

PR_Paige's World1

I added more of the ink splatter stamp on this side of the layout.  I added some fun die cuts around the page as well as this cute flair button.  I love adding tangled thread to my pages, and here I used a few colors.

I wanted to create a sub title, so I stamped this sentiment from the Happy Art Stamp Set and then fussy cut it. I wanted to lay the words out differently than they were on the actual stamp, so cutting each word out worked out great.  Plus, it said exactly what I wanted it to about my sweet girl!  For my main title, I hand drew the letters of her name on some of the Amy Tan papers and cut them out.  I traced around them with black pen to make them pop a little more.

I used even more stamps down at the bottom.  I created the date using the Date Stamp Set, which I love!  I also used the fun brush stroke stamp from the New Day Stamp Set, and I used a Heidi Swapp ink pad in Mustard for that.  I also used a fun sentiment from the Totally Stamp Set.  I love how versatile these stamps are!  I added another die cut here at the bottom and then machine stitched through it.

Here’s my process video if you’d like to see how I put this layout together.  I had a blast making it, and I hope it inspires you in some way!

Stay tuned for two more of my projects coming your way soon!  Have a great day!

Saturday Creations – {celebrate}

I had so much FUN creating with our PR Totally Stamp Set that I asked if I could make one more so here it is:

000_4771The background is three different colors of distress ink spritzed with water.  This is one of my FAV color combinations!

To make this card I used FOUR different Precious Remembrance stamp sets.  Can you guess which ones?

000_4773PR Totally Stamp Set for the brush stroke framing the panel (I only used half of the stamp to make the brush stroke thinner and heat embossed it in white), the PR Blossom Stamp Set for my FAV flower (I stamped in black and clear embossed, colored with distress inks, spritzed with water, and fussy cut the flower and stem out.  I ran a black marker around the cut edges of the flower so you wouldn’t see the white water color paper),  the PR Fall Colors Stamp Set for that FAB grid stamp (it always looks good to ground your flower so it doesn’t look like it’s floating in air), and the PR Oh So Fun Stamp Set for the word “celebrate.”

Seriously – how can you go wrong combining the Precious Remembrance stamp sets?!!!  Step outside the box and just create!

Hope you like it!

Tuesday Ideas: Grounded

Hello, everyone!  It’s Melissa back with more clean and simple inspiration for Tuesday Ideas!

As I’m looking toward September, I’m adding coffee to my grocery list, knowing my consumption might soon be increasing ever so slightly as days turn cooler!  That said, I chose a coffee theme for today’s card using stamps from the fabulously versatile Totally stamp set as well as the coffee cup image from the Coffee Love stamp set.

2016 Aug30

Am I the only one that feels like this with a cup of liquid magic in hand?  Life just seems a bit more manageable with a little coffee consumption!  Know what I mean?!

The background is an image from the Totally stamp set, stamped three times to ground the main image.  I stamped and fussy cut the coffee cup, paper piecing the middle with kraft cardstock & popping up the assembled image with foam dots for dimension.  The “whatever” sentiment is also from the Totally stamp set.  So fun!

Here’s to cooler days, warmer drinks and a slower pace (hopefully)!

Until next time, happy stamping!

Saturday Creations ~ {You’re A Star}

Today’s Saturday Creation focuses on the stars in our Precious Remembrance Totally Stamp Set:

000_4804

The background is made with distress inks and then spritzed with water to create the perfect night sky.  There are some tiny gems ~ can you see them? ~ to give the appearance of stars in the galaxy.  This card is for someone who used to play professional baseball.  (To read more about him, go to my blog).

000_4768Tip – I don’t like my handwriting so I stamped “You’re______ ” and then masked the stamp that says “that’s all” just to get the “a” and then stamped another star in black to make the sentiment POP!  I framed it all with the brushstroke stamp. EVERYTHING I stamped was coated in clear embossing powder and then heat set to give it a shiny appearance.

I hope you like it!

Here’s the PR Totally Stamp Set ~ so versatile!
