Design It Monday {You’re the Best Mom!}

Well hello there, Lisa here today with another card featuring the new Mom and Dad set! With our spring weather sort of missing in action this year, I’ve been creating my own kind of spring with paper, stamps and various little pretties! Here’s a glimpse of the kind spring that’s been hanging around my art studio lately…

For this card I’ve used a small strip of My Mind’s Eye paper and soft white pompom trim to anchor my handmade bloom.  I could have used any number of colors from the DP for the bloom, but decided to pull the light aqua out as my focal. I DO love this soft shade!

For this bloom I started with a strip of satin ribbon and used a running stitch to gather it into a circle. I followed suit by doing the same with a length of tulle and polka dot fabric. These were layered together with fabric glue. A tiny felt rolled rose was added to the center along with two stick pins and a small banner holding the mom stamp ~ masked off from the {MOM & DAD stamp} in the set. A great way to stretch your stamp collection is to add or subtract words and letters from your sentiments. Dyane has spaced the letters just right in this set making the task very easy! For extra added interest in my design the sentiment was arched on an acrylic block then stamped “around” my bloom. Rounding the corner on the card echos this part of the design.

I hope my card helped bring a touch of spring to your little corner of the world today! I’ll see you back here in two weeks with a father’s day card inspired from my childhood!
