Saturday Creations {summer journals}

I’m back with another Saturday Creations post, this time, highlighting the Precious Remembrance “calendar stamp set.”

With the beginning of school in sight, I thought I’d create little journals for the kids to be able to look back at all the fun things we did together this summer.

The construction of the journals is as simple as can be: a card-sized piece of cardstock, with computer papers stacked inside, and a sewn spine.

On the cover, I used a cloud background set and stamped “our” and “adventures 2012” from the Precious Remembrance set, and the rest using an alphabet set.

Inside, I stamped a few journaling lines for the kids to record their thoughts, and left plenty of white space for pictures.

Sofia drew herself on the hotel bed in Plattsburg, with her new Squinkies set – I love it 🙂

On the last page, I stamped out the calendars from the Precious Remembrance set, so the kids could highlight their special days.

I hope you like my summer adventure journals!  The kids had so much fun filling them out, and I loved seeing what stood out to them… like, who knew that pushing buttons in the hotel elevator was one of the highlights of Thomas’ summer?  HA.

Inspire Me Friday {August Adventures}

For this week’s project, I did a little layering with die-cut pieces to create a fun, summer-y card using the Calender Stamp Set. I always end up with so many scraps of paper whenever I do any crafting, and I wanted to challenge myself to put those scraps to use. I started off with an A2 card base which I scored and folded. I embossed a strip of white cardstock using an American Crafts embossing folder from the Whimsy duo. These folders look just like Cuttlebug embossing folders, which is great since the Cuttlebug is the only embossing/die-cutting machine I own!

Banners are so popular right now, and I wanted to incorporate the trend into this project. I added a fish-tail end to the white strip, and layered the yellow banner strip under a few die-cut pieces (I used Papertrey Ink’s Double-Ended Banners die). I then used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eight dies to die-cut a couple of pieces. I’m so glad I was able to put that polkadotted scrap to use! It’s been in my scrap pile for months, and I’m glad I hung onto it.

For my main focal image, I thought that something floral would be perfect for summer. I used Papertrey Ink’s Rosie Posie stamp set to stamp the flower, which I then fussy-cut with scissors (but you thought it was a die-cut, right?!). For my sentiment panel, I used the Double-Ended Banners die again, but this time cut off the fish-tail ends. I love that the Calendar Stamp Set includes the word “Adventures” and I’ve been itching to find a place to use it. I decided that “August Adventures” would be perfect.

I’d like to challenge you all to put some of your scrap pieces to use. I hope you have a great weekend, everyone!

Project Thursday {just a note}

Hello there! Did ya miss me last week? 😉

Today I’m here with a card using the Calender stamp set, as well as a little spur of the moment video on the design process behind it. I thought you might like to see my thought process (or lack thereof ;)) when making my cards.

And the video…

So a few extra shots of the things I added on afterwards, as well as why I added them…

Here I changed the twine because I wanted a little more color and I felt the jute kinda blended in with the butterfly. I also changed the gem colors and sizes to match with the patterned paper a little better.

You might also see the faint watermark image of the calender on the tag – a little extra something that makes me feel a bit better about a card. 🙂

I also distressed the edges of the paper a bit with the back of my scissors (so I wouldn’t cut myself or dull my scissor blades), and then added a paperclip…mostly because I think they’re so darn cute. 😉

That’s it for me today! I hope you enjoyed this little ‘behind the scenes’! Have a blessed one!

Create It Wednesday {fold, tuck, embellish}

With so many types of die cuts, paper and trims to choose from these days…I believe in throwing them all together in the ultimate layered card.  Layer on the paper, tiny envelope and tuck in a tag and you have a perfect base to begin adding your favorite Precious Remembrance stamps.

There is something about those little heart stamps that make me smile most of all.  They are sweet, tiny and a perfect addition to any…and for me, every…project.  Used stamps from Positive Thoughts and Calendar Stamp Sets.  So go a little wild with the colors today, maybe add a little heart to your next project.

Design It Monday : Scrapbooking Layout { Yum! – Snack Time }

Hi Friends! I hope you had a fun weekend!^_^ The creativity will continue this week, have fun browsing, create with us and enjoy!^_^

Today, I created a simple layout, I call it simple because it’s all about kraft and neutral colors. And you know how I love kraft, yeah? Yup!^_^

And what is one of the most important thing to document a photo? Date!^_^

I used the Calendar Stamp Set to add my date, isn’t it so cool?^_^ I stamped the month and year on another kraft paper, added dimensional, and that’s why it has a 3D look! Love it!^_^

I had a great time making my own rosette flowers too! I just used my scoring board to score it and fold it myself, it’s pretty easy. I know you can do it too!^_^

So what are you waiting for? Start creating and show some kraft love!^_^

Have a fun day!
